The Thermage procedure is performed with a radiofrequency device called the ThermaCoolTM System. This device delivers a special form of radiofrequency (RF) that tightens your skin and underlying tissue which pulls out wrinkles and tightens loose skin.
Unlike surgical skin tightening procedures, the Thermage procedure involves no surgical incisions, recovery time, or surgical complications.

The ThermaCool device uses a treatment tip called ThermaTipTM , which delivers a controlled amount of radiofrequency (RF) energy, not to be confused with a laser.

With each touch to the skin, the ThermaTip device uniformly heats a large volume of collagen in the deeper layers of the skin and its underlying tissue while simultaneously protecting the outer layer of the skin with cooling. Reverse Thermal Gradient Process

• Upon the delivery of radiofrequency, a reverse thermal gradient is created in the skin with the Thermage procedure.
• An internal contact coolant within the treatment tip is used to cool and protect the top layer of skin while simultaneously heating the mid and deep layers of the skin.
• This temperature rise in the deeper layers of skin is created to cause immediate contraction of collagen fibers, which leads to continued gradual collagen tightening and production of new collagen over time. During treatment, you may experience a sensation of deep heat.

What To Expect

Pre-Treatment
Prior to treatment, your physician may prescribe relaxants and/or pain medication.

During Treatment
With each touch of the ThermaTip device, you will experience a brief, deep heating sensation as the RF energy is delivered to your skin and underlying tissue. This deep heating sensation is your indication that your collagen is reaching effective temperatures for tightening. Your physician controls the amount of energy delivered to balance procedural comfort with maximum results. The ThermaTip device cools before, during, and after heating to protect your skin and make the treatment more comfortable.

Post-Treatment
Immediately following a Thermage procedure, you will be able to return to your normal activities and can apply cosmetics. There is no recovery with this procedure.

Your skin should feel tighter, smoother and more youthful. Over time, you will notice additional tightening.
